A Survey of The Docks

Image
Players having conversations at the PonyTown docks.     The PonyTown docks are a complete mixed bag of fandoms. There is never any one single fandom completely overtaking this space, although Pokémon came very close in early 2025, with there being quite a few players utilizing pocket monster themed skins while spending their time in the area. There is a dedicated theme for this area though on the 18+ server that I play on that usually stays with players hanging out on the 'wooden' part of the docks though. Often times, over there, players can be seen with skins that have noticeable makeup or headphone accessories disguised to resemble bare chests while they advertise private party islands designed for adult themes. You might say the docks is the " red light district " of the 18+ server on PonyTown, but it is actually more than that.         The docks are also one of the main fandom crossing spots and also the go-to place if you are unafraid of...

Sometimes, People Confuse Me

Image
A fellow player on PonyTown started bullying me for being a  Casper  fan.     So, I was at the PonyTown docks tonight as Casper McFadden , delivering snacks to people in game as I usually do, when this user with an -ahem- clownlike skin approached me and started talking about how Casper is an orphan, how 'no one likes him' and how they thought the fandom was dying out. As you might already be guessing, I found this to be very confusing. I did ask this person why they were doing this and they declined to answer the question. So I am left to speculate and wonder. They were extremely focused on Casper being an orphan. They kept saying "Orphan" over and over, to most of the things I said, as if spitting the truth about the character in my face was somehow supposed to be hurtful or an insult. When that seemed to be failing to work well in their favor, they briefly moved on to saying that no one likes him and that the fandom was dying out. Which is where this reall...

A Letter to Cain #1

Image
Cain Jedidiah Jr. Sawyer To Cain: What do you believe people misunderstand most about you?     The Matron     The Matron:  People assume that just because Cain doesn't know how to talk that he's dumb or that he just wants to cause harm but that could not be further from the truth. Cain is usually a very sweet and kindhearted baby boy whose thoughts are always turning, even if he cannot give them a voice. Just the other day, I put him down in the garden and the first thing he did was find a beautiful little flower to take to his sister, Anne-Marie. He is also often watching over his youngest sister, Babi, while she sleeps, making sure no one disturbs her until she is ready.

A Brief Introduction and Some Random Musings For The Blog

Image
Hello and Welcome! Bongo, a hyper-realistic grizzly bear cub smiles and waves a friendly greeting.      First of all, I should probably make it known that I have never run a blog before outside of Tumblr. Surprising, to me, since I was a student of the liberal arts and especially of the English language who has loved to write since a young age. But here we are. I was finally motivated to make this blog specifically when a novel idea struck me while playing a game called  PonyTown .      I realized that it might just be an interesting idea to try to compile and analyze anecdotal data regarding individual interests and community spaces in the game. Translation: It might be a good idea to interview other users, asking them questions about their fandoms and hobbies, while also making note of where people who share those fandoms and hobbies typically gather in the game. It would be like creating a record of a living, changing cultural ecosystem. I have been...

Incoming Post!

Something Good Is Coming...!        I am aware that it has been two whole days since my last post on this blog. But I have been working on a post with a lot of meat and potatoes to it the entire time. I would say I'm almost halfway through it now, so it should be posted in the near future. If you all would like a hint, it's about something that was wildly popular among young girls in the nineties and it had something to do with a certain... spirit. Until then, you may enjoy my brief PonyTown observation for today.    In case the video does not load, here is a photo of how packed the docks were today:          So... As you can see, docks was packed today. There was a user on who was offering the anonymous service of sending out whispered complaints for everyone to read and that usually is a hot ticket to getting everyone talking all at once, just like it did today. Today's topic that I learned about- proshippers. Funny how lin...

An Aside About PonyTown & Fandoms

Image
... And What I Find Amusing About It A cross Between MLP's Discord and the Animated Beetlejuice laughs.                  I remember when " My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic " was at the height of its popularity, back in 2010 through 2018. Specifically, I remember 2012, when an article on Equestria Daily announced an upcoming MMO style MLP fan game where you would play as a customizable pony and 'build a town with other players'. Or, so I thought I remembered. I've done some digging around for the post, only to find out that it's likely it never existed, that I had just confused this post and this post  into one article for one online game. Truth be told, at the time I thought this 'article' was posted on EQD, it was actually read aloud to me by someone I knew at the time who was also a huge fan of MLP. I just remember us discussing how much fun we could and would have together on a game where you could fully customize a pon...

My First Introduction to "The River" by Peter Heller

Image
Literary Discussion In PonyTown.      I was hanging around the PonyTown docks when another player, let us call them W, began talking in the open about how they love to read books, so I sat down with them and asked them what they were currently reading that had them so hyped. The enclosed interview is the exact conversation that ensued, however brief it may be.   Q: "What are you currently reading that has you feeling this way especially?" A: "'The River' by Peter Heller. Though I've actually just finished reading it."   Q: "What are your thoughts on it?" A: "It's good but it's also sad. The ending especially surprised me."   Q: "What was your favorite part of the book?" A: "I loved Wynn and Jack's friendship. I wish it had been a romance instead, though. I felt that Wynn and Jack were very much queer characters."        That was as far as we got before W was disconnected from the server and di...
