Something Good Is Coming...!
I am aware that it has been two whole days since my last post on this blog. But I have been working on a post with a lot of meat and potatoes to it the entire time. I would say I'm almost halfway through it now, so it should be posted in the near future. If you all would like a hint, it's about something that was wildly popular among young girls in the nineties and it had something to do with a certain... spirit. Until then, you may enjoy my brief PonyTown observation for today.
So... As you can see, docks was packed today. There was a user on who was offering the anonymous service of sending out whispered complaints for everyone to read and that usually is a hot ticket to getting everyone talking all at once, just like it did today. Today's topic that I learned about- proshippers. Funny how linguistics can evolve in the most odd ways. When I was growing up, "proshipper" probably just meant someone who had a favorite ship in one or more of their fandoms, a favorite romantic pairing. Now, it has apparently evolved to mean someone who goes above and beyond to coerce, threaten, stalk and argue with someone who does not agree with their ship. Honestly, I would not call that "proshipper", I would call that "psychotic" or "time to call the police".
Another hot topic of the day was faking mental disorders. I have been hearing about this uptick, actually from a lot of different sources and I just do not understand it. Maybe it's because I actually am diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome but I fail to understand why anyone would even want to fake a disorder. Some might argue "for followers" or "for views" but I would ask... Do the people doing it not feel any modicum of shame then? How is it not embarrassing for them to fake this stuff? How in the heck do the pros seem to outweigh the cons to them when I cannot, in fact, see any pros to it? It's all so very confusing and it feels so wrong.
